About a year and a half ago, the Dresden Rotary Club started a project with the community of Jocotepec, Mexico. The community supplied the club with a list of items needed. Buses were on the list as well as medical equipment, computers, and school supplies. One of the buses needed to be handicapped accessible.

When the word of the project got out to the community, the club started to get much need assistance. Two local doctors who were retiring, a General Practitioner and an Optometrist, donated all their medical equipment for the project. The local High School and School Board donated many retired Dell computers. Their local Interact club raised $1,000.00 to be used for school supplies.

On February the 18th 2005, there was a Mexican Bon Voyage celebration. This was to thank all the donors and to wish a safe trip to the 6 leaving on this trek. The turn out was great, and much Rotary Fellowship was enjoyed. Both the buses were on display, so everyone could see the work that went into preparing this project.

On February 20th, 7:00 am, Ewan and Beth Wilson, Paul and Sandra McKellar, Dan Sinasac, and Phil Richards left on their trek.

Here is a link to our friends at CKTimes. A write-up about the Mexico project. Also, there was a small write-up in the London Free Press Thursday in section C.

Thanks From Rotary Club of Dresden

I would like to thank all the Rotarians and Guest for making last evening a great night.

This project has been in the works for a long time. With all the work that Ewan Wilson, Phil Richards, Dan Sinasac and Paul McKellar. Projects like this one takes many hours of hard work and lots patience.

Last evening with the assistance of all the Dresden Rotarians was well received by all. The food was great and there was much socializing that was done.

This project would never of happened with out the support of the Chatham-Kent Rotary Clubs, Kraft Canada, Dresden K of C, I.O.D.E, Dresden Kinsmen and many individual donors.

Thank You!

Murray Melton
President
Mid-County Ford Sales, Dresden Rotary Club
