2003-2004 Rotary International Mission Statement

The mission of Rotary International is to support its member clubs in fulfilling the Object of Rotary by:

  •          Fostering unity among member clubs;

  •          Strengthening and expanding Rotary around the world;

  •          Communicating worldwide the work of Rotary; and

  •         Providing a system of international administration. 

          The Object of Rotary

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

First

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service. 

Second

High ethical standards in business and professions; The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; And the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society. 

Third

The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life.  

Fourth

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal service.

LKCS Graduation Dresden Rotary Awards

That's President Phil Richard with his back turned then Regan Butler and  Stacey Badiuk receiving INTERAC Award of $250 each.

Phil also awarded the Regis Memorial Citizenship Award of $500 each to Melissa Whitson and Gregory McFadden.

Also, two Physical Education Awards to Ian VanMiddelkoop and Kathryn Bruinsma of $100 each.

 


District Governor 2003-2004

Donald R. Chisholm

Don Chisholm is a member of the Royal Oak Rotary Club.  He served as Club President in 1998-1999.  He chairs the club's Scholarship/Strive programs and twice chaired the Club's auction, it's principal fundraising event.  He served as an Assistant Governor and participated in multiple District level endeavors.  He is a (multiple) Paul Harris Fellow, Benefactor and Sustaining member.

Don is a practicing attorney and received his J.D. from the Detroit College of Law and his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Wayne State University.  In addition to being Magistrate in two district courts, he has been appointed Mediator in District Court, Circuit Court and Family Court.  He is on the advisory Board of the Royal Oak Foundation for Public Education and is on the Board of the Royal Oak Historical Commissions. He also serves on the Royal Oak Acorn Municipal Foundation and is a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Don has been married to his wife, Mary Elizabeth for 35 years.  They have two daughters, both attorneys.  His hobbies are U.S. Civil War reading and touring, sunfish sailing and kayaking.
