Parenting class demonstration

At a recent meeting we had Beth Pearson speaking to us about the parenting class taught in the high school system. Beth is engaged to Chris Debicki. They are getting married near the end of July and are both teachers in Wallaceburg, but Beth will be returning to Dresden next year.

Dresden Rotary Pacers Big Bike Race
Just a recap on the big bike race and another thank you for your support. Our Rotary team raised the 2nd highest amount, $3500 and our time wasn't that bad time wise either . Not the fastest but we made one lap of the track in a little over 2 minutes. Not bad for our varied group. The CK project this year raised $165,000. The organizer this year did a tremendous job but it was individuals such as yourselves who donated that made the difference.

Bulb Planting Campaign
Lynda has organized a sale of bulbs for fall planting . You can get catalogues from Lynda. Sales sheets should be returned by the end of July. 50% of sales are returned to the club as profit.

Malaria Project - Mosquito Tents
Terry Youlton spoke recently about the Canadian Rotary malaria project in which mosquito tents will be supplied to at risk children in Tanzania. There are grants from CIDA and RI available if Canadian Rotarians can come up with pledges for approx. $250,000. A pledge sheet is available interested in making a personal contribution to this project may do so.

Victoria Playhouse

FRIDAY August 24

Tickets are $22 each for groups of 20 or more.  Individually tickets are $24 each.

We need to determine if we can put together a group of 20 that may be interested in attending “Boardwalk” on Friday, August 24.  If we can, than we can also decide if we wish to make reservations at a local restaurant for dinner before the play.

Please advise Bruce Hart by return e-mail of your interest and the number of tickets you wish to have purchased for you.

BOARDWALKTop of Form

A Doo-Wop Musical by Randy Vancourt

Three old friends reunite on the boardwalk of their beachfront hometown to relive the summers of their youth through the doo-wop harmonies they once shared. "Boardwalk" is a joyous celebration of those great doo-wop melodies of the 50's as three talented singer/actor/musicians tell their story through the beautiful soulful rhythms of a kinder, gentler era. - A Musical Journey Down Memory Lane.  Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - Saturday, September 01, 2007
