Tiffin
Building Work Nears Completion
Upgrades have
been ongoing for the last 10 months in an attempt to provide more security
around the Tiffin Building. Electrical fixtures and the wood siding has been
damaged over and over again despite our attempts to thwart the vandalism. We've
asked for help from both CK parks and CK police with little result.
The vandals even crawled under the building and damaged the
electrical feed to the building, tried to burn the place down, break electrical
fixtures, break and deface the natural wood siding. Picnic tables and park
benches had to be chained down to keep them from being fixtures of the building.
The key players for all the work being completed are: John
Highgate, Paul Weese, Dave Weston, the Ontario Work Program and the Duke Energy
Foundation (I hope I haven't forgot anyone). Thanks to John Veenema as well.
John V. has been keeping an eye on this building and park for years and has
discouraged many vandals.
Outstanding are a ceiling light, cage and the inspection.

New Blue and Yellow
Puck-board covers damaged and unavailable wood siding. Purchased by Rotary Club.
This should help with graffiti and siding damage.

High output lighting
on a 6:00 pm to midnight timer. Perimeter low voltage lighting( 6:00 pm
to 6:00 am). All protected by Lexan or steel cage NASCAR would be proud
of. Purchased by Rotary Club and Duke Energy Foundation.

New ceiling purchased by
Duke Energy Foundation. New lamp fixture and steel cage coming for ceiling that
will be on when the main lighting turns off at midnight. Old metal ceiling
removed as it was damaged by kids throwing rocks to break the light fixture.

New ground fault electrical, timers. Also,
timer controlled receptacles under eves for Christmas lighting. Switch turns on
light, bypassing timers, but the light cannot be turned off. Cabinets are key
locked. Large high output light at right. The lower receptacle is powered
all the time where the receptacle to the left of the switch is the same main
lighting timer. Purchased by Duke Energy Foundation and Rotary Club.

Receptacles (GFI) housed in protective
locked cabinet for concert series and maintenance. Two receptacles in different
circuits. Provided by Duke Energy Foundation and Rotary Club.
