Holiday in Florida...by Tamas Gaal Right after a Rotary meeting that was at my first host family’s house, we left for Florida on Monday the 8th of November. We knew that is going to be a long trip so everyone brought pillows and blankets. After 23 hours of riding we arrived to Florida where Murray’s parents own a family house. And the adventure began… I have to admit that I am terribly afraid of snakes. Seriously. And it’s obvious that Florida is full of snakes. Karen warned me that watch out in the bathroom because they can crawl up in the bathtub or somewhere else. Everyone knew that she is joking except me. I took it serious I believed that. My first way led to the bathroom to check out the situation. Of course I realized that she was joking with me. Anyways it was an awesome place where we stayed. I haven’t seen any living snake during the holiday. Thank God! There was a golf course close to the house and it had pounds where many alligators lived. But they behaved friendly; we didn’t get close to them. On the next day we made a quick plan what we going to do during this seven days. On the first day, (it was Wednesday) we went to the mall shopping. I really enjoyed that. I had to be quick to buy gifts for my family because they should get my package before Christmas. On Thursday our purpose was to go the Wet ‘n’ Wild in Orlando but the weather was kind of windy and cloudy. We decided to postpone the Wet ‘n’ Wild and after a lunch at McDonald’s we went back to the house. Next day we could went to the water park called Wet ‘n’ Wild. I loved it. Full of slides. My favourite was a slide called Rocket. It’s a huge slide looks like the ordinary slides but it’s very high. I had to stand in the release. After a few seconds the floor opened and I was falling down, it was a free fall exactly. That was the scariest slide for me. But I liked the Black Hole too. On this slide you can’t see anything you are just going in a black thing very fast. With Erik we tried all of the slides we didn’t miss any. This day was very hot just perfect for Wet ‘n’ Wild. On Saturday we went to the flea market that wasn’t very different that we have at home in Hungary. It was interesting to see that not everything is way different from home. But I bought nothing; I don’t really trust this kind of places. On this day Murray and Karen made a joke with me. They bought a fake snake at the flea market (of course I didn’t know about that). Shortly after we got back to the house from the flea market Murray stepped into my room. He pointed at the window, said: “Hey, there is a snake outside”. I got excited, grabbed my camera, took two or three shots and then we went outside. I was holding a sweeper just in case. Murray took the sweeper away from me. He wanted to check out if the snake is alive. I stayed back I didn’t dare to move closer to it. He just shouted that it’s alive than grabbed it, I think he wanted to chase me. I started to run like hell. I looked back and saw that Brittany is holding the snake and running after me. I was shouting, I really thought that it is a real snake. I ran she ran after me. A few seconds after I realized that it’s fake. Of course everyone was laughing at me they knew that it is a “joke”. But I didn’t care I just felt good that it wasn’t real anyways. This is one of the lot of memories that I will never forget. Of course after that I was laughing at myself too. I experienced something new, that’s what this year is about. On Sunday we went to the Cocoa beach. It was a weird feeling that “only” an ocean divides me from my home… The weather wasn’t very nice, kind of stormy. We took the bikes too and Wayne escorted us with the Freestar. Monday was the day when we went to the Universal Studios. We rode the movies!!! For example: Twister, Mummy, Man in Black, Back to the future, Jaws, Jimmy Neutron, Shrek and lot of others. A whole day was just enough to try everything. My favourite was the Mummy. The only thing that I didn’t like was an old woman. When we were at the line up she starred at everyone but especially at me. She was dressed up in old ancient Egyptian dress, and her make up shown that she is zombie or something. And she was starring at me for a long time (maybe she seen that I am from Europe???). I tried to ignore her but I couldn’t. Fortunately she left me after 5 minutes starring. We got back to the house about 8 p.m. everyone were tired. On Tuesday Murray and me went to the driving range, just to practice some. I wasn’t very good at golf. But he thought me how to hit right. So now I am not that bad. At the afternoon I went shopping with Karen to the mall and I finished my Christmas shopping for my family. This seven days gone by so quickly we had to come back. Back to the reality as Karen said. I loved Florida it was a brand new world for me. I tried to enjoy every minute of it just like as I do here in Canada. I took a lots of pictures here is some.
