Charity Comparison (Charity Navigator)
 Charity Navigator USA

As Rotarians we've always heard that the United Way has a lot of overhead and that Rotary International doesn't. It appears the United Way on the international level (local level is less efficient, national about the same) is actually are more efficient according to Charity Navigator. 
The Charity Navigator site also has top 10 lists of charities as well as advice on donating.
If anyone has come across such a Canadian site let us know.

Also, this Revenue Canada site provides a complete list of registered charities.
