What is Rotary |

Paul P. Harris, founder of Rotary
of these things we think, say or do.... |
The first meeting of Rotary took place in Chicago, on February 23, 1905. Our founder called the meeting, with three others, in the spirit of friendship and understanding. Initially, the four Rotarians that met on that historic occasion, met in rotation at their various business locations and this led to the name "Rotary". The ides of Paul Harris and his friends are the basis of
our Rotary ideals which have been accepted by business and professional
people around the world. The general objectives of every Rotary club are
the same. Object of Rotary To encourage and foster the ideal of service as the basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: 1. The development of acquaintances as an opportunity for service. 2. High ethical standards in business and professionals, the
recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the
dignifying by each Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to
serve society.
